• A 212-room block of student flats has been approved by Islington Council and is to be built in Holloway Road (12-storey student flats win go-ahead, August 3). Could someone explain why more accommodation for students is needed?
Students are only students for about three years.
They then leave and move on, so every year a certain amount of student accommodation becomes empty, ready for the next intake.

• Why does Islington housing seem to be available only for students and asylum-seekers? Forget the fact that other people might need to find a home.
Some people are being made homeless for students.
Students and asylum-seekers get the red-carpet treatment.
So if you are not one of those two groups, you can sleep on the street.
Islington Council, please help the people who are going to end up on the street, as I see a lot of buildings earmarked for students.
