Green for crossing danger

Published: 10 August, 2012

• I AM very concerned about the safety of the crossing at the junction of Central Street and Old Street, Finsbury.

When the ‘green man’ lights up, some drivers in oncoming traffic in Old Street think it’s their turn to swing round and up Central Street.
Twice in recent months my four-year-old granddaughter was nearly hit by cars – but for me grabbing her or yelling at her to stop, as she naturally walks out to cross when she sees the ‘green man’.

When it happened last night a woman standing next to me said she nearly had a heart attack.

It made both of us scream and the little girl, who was on her scooter, stopped just in time.

I am outraged and appalled at the lack of planning  involved and hope something can be done about it.
