• IN his review of Dave Arthur’s biography of Bert Lloyd (…the folk hero, Review, August 3) Bob Davenport points out that Lloyd and his wife Charlotte translated Brecht’s play Saint Joan of the Stockyards in 1964.
In view of Hans Fallada’s popularity, it is worth pointing out they also translated Fallada’s devastating novel of confessional autobiography, The Drinker, published in 1952 and again in print.
