Olympic visitors’ loo dash

Published: 27 July, 2012

• I WONDER if the Olympic Games organisers, the Mayor of London and  the government have realised how the lack of public conveniences will impact on our visitors.

Not for the first or second time have I been caught short. Finding one that is open, and decent enough to use, is like looking for the holy grail.

This has long been the case and I am ashamed at  the lack of decent public conveniences, surely an oxymoron if ever there was one.

The dreadful portaloos in the middle of the street strike terror into many, especially if, like me, you suffer from claustrophobia.

One I came across didn’t open until 11am.

If I were a visitor, I would wonder at this parlous state, and judge the country accordingly.
