Chance of a better life

• I LIVE in a small and insecure private flat just down the road from the Holly Park estate. I was delighted to hear that the powers that be are planning to replace the ugly concrete car park and to build a community centre and affordable housing.

Many people in the area badly need new affordable housing. I just hope the protesters opposing the scheme search their consciences and realise they are going to deny local people the chance of a better life in a decent home.

New developments can cause some disruption but affordable housing is vital and we shouldn’t let a small number of Nimbys block it.
