• WHEN I hear Eric Pickles talking about problem estates Sandringham and Balmoral come to mind.
There is an old saying that when poverty knocks at the door, love flies out the window.
So, poverty does not explain why the marriages of Princess Margaret, Princess Anne, Prince Charles and Prince Andrew ended up in divorce.
Eric Pickles and Louise Mensch MP should realise that marriages fail at all levels of society and just because single parents, in some cases, have to rely on state support does not mean they are suitable cases for deportation from their homes to another town.
In 1939 I was evacuated to a foreign country, the North Riding of Yorkshire. Now, from various initiatives put forward, both private and governmental, I hear that many elder citizens from London may be bound for Middlesbrough.
In the meantime amid all this uncertainty Standard and Poor’s, Fitch and Moody’s have all cut my credit rating from A to C and now I know what Greece and Spain are going through. We need some clarity from Pickles and Mensch as to what their plans are for us – so that we can have some stability and security in our futures.
In the meantime, as I walk around I feel that because of my CCC credit rating I should be ringing a bell and shouting “unclean’’.
