Olympics’ fat-cat elite

Published: 29 June, 2012

• IT’S time to puncture the Olympic torch relay hysteria. We should debunk the absurd mysticism surrounding the torch – the symbolism of which was, appropriately, an invention of the Nazis in the 1930s.

This ridiculous spectacle is just another way of trying to persuade people that the Olympics are “ours”.

In fact, the Olympics exist in the interests of a fat-cat corporate elite and their corrupt, jobs-for-life friends among international sports officials.

I’m sure I shall not be the only person to be “greeting” the torch’s progress through Islington with a less than welcoming message.
