• IT was good to hear that the Trade Union Congress library collection at London Metropolitan University in Holloway Road will remain accessible to those interested in studying the history of the trade union movement (Archive saved by unions, May 25).
We applaud the trade union intervention with funding that saved the library. But this unnecessary threat to the TUC library was brought about by unwarranted cuts to higher education funding made by a Tory-led coalition government which has an ideological agenda against trade unions. We now call for the uncertainty surrounding the future of the Women’s Library at London Met to be ended, and government cuts to higher education funding reversed.
