Dog mess defences

• CAN the council or police do something about dog fouling (All this dog mess shows a lack of respect for streets, April 27)?

At the block of flats where I live we are not allowed a doormat at the entrance, so dog mess gets trodden into our homes.

It’s not easy to ask everybody to take their shoes off when they enter, so I have a sheet of sponge matting soaked in disinfectant behind my front door.
