• MY service users at Alsen Day Centre could not believe their luck to receive a Christmas hamper full of so many wonderful treats

They had the best Christmas ever thanks to the Tribune and Marks & Spencer. The luxuries in the hampers were things they could not normally afford – so they won’t forget Christmas 2016 in a hurry.

• I WOULD like to say a huge thank-you for the wonderful gift hamper which was waiting for me. I was speechless with surprise. It’s probably the best thing to happen to me this dreadful year.

Spending Christmas alone, and missing dear departed friends (my friend Gill died last month) and family (my Mum died unexpectedly in 2015), is not easy. I miss my Mum so much, particularly at this time of year, as she loved Christmas.

Thank you to the kind-hearted people who donated money, and to the Islington Tribune for helping make people like myself feel a little better.

These hampers really bring Christmas cheer.
