PERFORMERS dangled from trees, cyclists embarked on a seven-mile tour of Islington and a mass céilidh took place at Sunday’s Go Islington Festival.

More than 4,000 people enjoyed a day of running, cycling, dancing and arts at the event, which centred on Highbury Fields.

Runners took part in a 1k race around the park, while others opted for a longer, 3k run to the Emirates Stadium.

Scarabeus theatre group performed their show “Arboreal living at the edge”, commissioned by Islington Council, who organised the festival along with Islington Cyclists Action Group, London Heathside Athletics Club and Sadler’s Wells.

Grafton School, Cando2, the Company of Elders and many other groups put on dazzling dance performances, and visitors jumped at the chance to take part in a céilidh.
