PLANS to boost Angel by adding another market are underway this week, as traders brainstorm ideas with the minds behind Hackney’s booming Broadway Market.

Camden Passage shops and Chapel Market traders are looking to work together to bring more custom to the area.

This follows the review by television presenter Mary Portas, which set out guidelines on how the nation’s high streets could be rejuvenated.

Portas visited Angel in January when she praised Chapel Market and Camden Passage.

Christine Lovett, director of Angel Business Improvement District, said: “We have to get the right kind of market that complements Chapel Market and the shops in Camden Passage.

"It has to fit in. It’s all about revitalising the area in the light of the Mary Portas review.

“With the two markets working together, we can become more of a market destination like Spitalfields. It would benefit the whole of the Angel.”
