FORMER Islington Mayor, Phil Kelly, has presented a cheque for £28,000 to Help on Your Doorstep-Connect.
In a ceremony at Islington Town Hall, Councillor Kelly thanked the charity’s director Ken Kanu for its valuable work.
Help on Your Doorstep-Connect’s team of outreach and referral professionals and volunteers have helped hundreds of vulnerable adults access support, advice, grants and benefits. Mr Kanu said he was overwhelmed by the generosity of all those who supported the Mayor’s charity appeal last year.
He added: “It means we can fund an outreach and referral worker for one year.”
This year, Mayor Jilani Chowdhury is raising money for The Manor Gardens Trust.
The charity, based in N7, provides healthcare services for more than 2,000 disadvantaged people every week.
