Holloway children to join classical performance at St Luke’s church this Sunday

Published: 6 July 2012

FIFTY children from Holloway will join a classical performance at St Luke’s church in Hillmarton Road on Sunday.

They will sing a new piece called Thecla by  British composer Harvey Brough with Vox Holloway choir at the church on Hillmarton Road.

The work is on an operatic scale, involving two choirs – children and adults – a small orchestra, a brass band, several soloists and a narrator.

It tells the tale of a woman from biblical times who refuses to do what society expected of her and instead follows her own dreams.

The children come from Islington & Christchurch Primary School, St Mary Magdalene Academy and St Luke’s Church Youth Choir, and are being coached by Mr Brough who will also conduct the concert.

The concert starts at 7.30pm.

Doors and bar open from 7pm.

Tickets are £15 and £5 for students.
