TWO stars from 1990s sitcom Men Behaving Badly, Neil Morrissey and Hugo Speer, joined council leader Catherine West and Islington residents for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations on Newington Green.

The event last Saturday was organised by Mildmay Community Partnership.

Also attending was Mr Morrissey’s son Sam, 22, and Maria Michael, a local activist.

The sun shone as local people watched The Stow Caledonian Bagpipe Band and Highbury Grove School’s Huseyin Govtepe play music, and Swing Patrol gave a public lesson in swing dancing.

Councillor Joe Caluori said: “This was a great opportunity to come together as a community and get to know each other better.

“Local families enjoyed the great weather whilst local celebrities turning up was a surprise for all of us.”
