Shoreditch Festival promises fun and activities

ONE of the great highlights of the festival season is being launched in Shoreditch tomorrow (Saturday) with a range of entertainment and activities.

The 11th Shoreditch Festival, which goes on until Sunday, July 22, includes a free programme of performance, entertainment and exploration along the Regent’s Canal.

Highlights include a Hoxton Street Party in Hoxton Street from 10am tomorrow, followed by a weekend of live music and performance beside the canal. The festival will welcome the Olympic flame to Hackney on its first day in the Host Boroughs on Saturday, July 21.

Hoxton Street will be filled with activities and performances artists including Ebonessence, Nemesis, ExZeb and Dimensions. Circus acts Mimbre Youth will take part, as will the Mr Wonderful tea dance. The Ministry of Stories will welcome visitors to the Children’s Republic of Shoreditch, and Hoxton Hall will run mask-making, drumming workshops, and live music. Buskers, art exhibitions and the Hoxton Street beer festival are among the activities.
