CHILDREN learning the violin gave an impromptu musical performance outside Union Chapel in Highbury on Wednesday afternoon.

They were rehearsing prior to a performance inside, watched by family and friends.

A dozen primary and secondary schoolchildren performed classical pieces and popular tunes.

Len Cunningham, trustee with Islington-based Music First charity, which organised the event, said: “It was an opportunity for children to perform with a large ensemble and it went really well. Parents, carers and friends were all delighted.”
