MURDER squad detectives launched an investigation this week after the grim discovery of a decomposing body in a flat in Finsbury Park.

Police went to the first floor property in Wray Crescent on Monday afternoon after concerns were raised about a resident who had not been seen for some time.

The body was identified as that of 22-year-old Chrissie Azzopardi, who lived alone.

Police have so far not ruled out foul play.

Pathologists worked in the flat all week searching for clues but have been unable to determine the cause of death due to the badly decomposed state of the body.

A post mortem at St Pancras Mortuary on Tuesday proved inconclusive.

Police said next of kin have been informed.

No arrests have been made.

Anyone with information should call the incident room on 020 8247 7821.
