THE search for a missing youth from King’s Cross ended in tragedy this week after a body was discovered in the river Thames – 12 days after his disappearance.

Tian Yi Zhang, 17, who would have turned 18 on Friday, was last seen on Saturday May 5, after leaving air cadet training in Hoxton.

A body was recovered from the Thames on Tuesday at 3pm by officers from the Met’s Marine Support Unit.

Formal identification was due to take place, but police were satisfied that the body is that of Tian Yi Zhang.

Tian would have normally caught the 205 bus home from air training to King’s Cross, but on this occasion didn’t come home, which was very out of character.

During the search for Tian, police officers suggested that he could have been worried about exams and there was also concern that his family may have to return to China.
