MP calls for safety action at Archway bridge as latest fall victim is named

Published: 30 October, 2013

A MAN who died after falling from the notorious Archway bridge was named today as 28-year-old Michael Worrall, from Crouch End.

Mr Worrall, of Carysfort Road, died earlier this month, prompting calls for a high fence to be erected on the Hornsey Lane bridge, which crosses the A1. He was the fifth person to plunge from the bridge since 2010.

Today (Wednesday), Islington North MP Jeremy Corbyn tweeted: "I remain very disappointed that Haringey has still not put up the promised safety measures at Highgate's bridge."

Islington Council safety chief Councillor Paul Convery said via twitter: "High fence is solution proposed for Archway "suicide bridge". So, @haringeycouncil please just get on with it!"
