Jazzie B is set to DJ at the Jazz Cafe

We’re back to the annual what to do/who with/where/do we need to book? New Year house party versus going out quandary.

So, if you haven’t been invited to a banging house party, or worse, don’t like the sound of the ones you have been invited to, here’s a collection of what else is on offer.

THE Wedding Present + SHARKS. Dingwalls (Camden Town tube), 7.30pm, £20 adv: Nearly 26 years down the line the legendary Leeds band make a special appearance in Camden.

TORTURED Soul + special guest DJs + DJ Jazzie B. Jazz Cafe (Camden Town tube), 1am, £35 adv: Dubbed the future of house music by DJ Gilles Peterson, Brooklyn’s Tortured Soul pack dancefloors with their completely live performances followed by DJ set from Jazzie B from 1am.

CLUB NME NYE Ball ft Dog is Dead + Icona Pop. Koko (Mornington Crescent tube), 9pm, £12.50: Grooves favourites Dog is Dead are joined by Swedish electro-pop duo Icona Pop and Camden’s Caan (former Ou Est le Swimming Pool), who released his debut album this year.

ULTIMATE Power NYE. Scala (King’s Cross Tube), 9pm-6am, £20 earlybird: Power Ballads all night long.

ED HARCOURT + Benjamin Folke Thomas + The Dash + Easter Sun. The Bull & Gate (Kentish Town tube), 8pm, £10 adv.

BODYMOVE White & Gold NYE Ball Rio Reveillion ft Rhythms of the City + Karizma + Audiowhores + Femi B + Anderson Noize + more. Egg (King’s Cross tube), 9pm-6am, £45-90: Wear white for this Rio-style fiesta featuring a Brazilian big top and infectious carnival atmosphere.

NYE Ambassador’s Ball ft The Wild Mercury Sound + DJ Steve Harris (XFM) + Jeff Automatic (Transmission/21st Century Noise) + Black Knight (Casino Royale) + John Downfall (Smoke & Mirrors) + AntzInTheJam. Barfly (Chalk Farm tube), 8pm-5am, £10: An evening of grandeur and glamour – retro dresses, shirts and suits, military uniforms, tiaras, foreign dignitary and military attire all expected. Live music upstairs, 60s beats downstairs.

CLUB de Fromage and Feeling Gloomy NYE. 02 Academy Islington (Angel tube), 9pm, £20-25: Two rooms, one playing gloomy indie, the other full-on rock and pop, switch between the two as the mood takes. Look out for giant balloon drop, confetti cannons, tea & cake, mince pies, air guitar and the usual freebies.

HOT Vintage Ball. Proud (Chalk Farm tube), 7.30pm-4.30am, £35-£45 and £2 after 12.30am: 1950s-style vintage ball, dress accordingly, burlesque, DJs and live music from Danny Fontaine and the Horns of Fury, Dixon Brothers + Filthy Few.

WHEELBARROW NYE Extravaganza. The Wheelbarrow (Mornington Crescent tube), 5pm, free before 9pm: dancefloor fillers, chart-topping bangers, sing-along power ballads, cheesy anthems and NYE ALLSTARS COVERS BAND playing all the songs you know... live.

Oscar Suave + Me, John and the Drummer + Black Tie White Noise + Deepseagreen + The Valkarys. The Dublin Castle (Camden Town tube), 7.45pm, £8/£6: Alice in Wonderland Party – plenty of scope for dressing up.

FARIS Badwan (The Horrors) DJ set + Tribes DJ Set + New Look DJs. The Lock Tavern (Chalk Farm tube), 8pm, £15 adv: a dark twist on the fairy tale with a Malice in Wonderland theme.

NYE Tache & Tails party ft DJ set from Orlando Weeks (The Maccabees). The Old Queen’s Head (Angel tube), 8pm, £20adv: dress code hint for ladies is cats, bunnies and mermaids, men is musketeers, Wild West and pirates, but it’s all up to the imagination.

SHAKE NYE Party. Electric Ballroom (Camden Town tube), 9pm-4am, £20 adv: dance, indie, electro, pop, feel-good party anthems and 70s/80s/90s hits from DJs Rikki Rock & Milo.

I LOVE the 80s & 90s NYE Party. HMV Forum (Kentish Town tube), 9.30pm, £8-£12:  As it says, arguably retro 80s and 90s hits with surprises, treats and special guests.

SOUNDTRACKS. The Monarch (Chalk Farm tube), 8pm-4am, £10: Back to the Future special, Enchantment Under the Sea dance-off, songs from movies and a clock tower countdown.

NYE Party ft The Dykeenies. Monto Water Rats (King’s Cross tube), 6pm, £15

Ano Novo No. Guanabara (Holborn tube), 5pm-4am, £20-£40: wear white and eat 12 grapes at the stroke of midnight for luck at this Brazilian party with samba, Capoeira and marvellous Latin dancers.

NYE Party. The Enterprise (Chalk Farm tube), 8pm, £5: DJs, full band karaoke and TV legends fancy dress.

NYE Special ft Aba Shanti I + Murray Man + Professa Nitti + DJ Dubette Naomi + Digital Niya Binghi + more. The Garage (Highbury & Islington tube), 9pm, £15

NYE WHITE Light Special. The Lexington (Angel tube), 8pm-4am, £15 adv: 50s, 60s and 70s tunes including rock ’n’ roll, soul, funk, disco, pop, surf, ska, beat, garage-punk, punk and more downstairs, while upstairs DJ Tobias plays indie, electro and pop.

NYE Party. The Good Ship (Kilburn tube), 7.30pm, £5/£7

Club Silver Extravaganza. The Underworld (Camden Town tube), 9pm-4am, £12: indie and alternative.
