THE skies are grey, the pockets are empty and there are at least three weeks to go until the next pay cheque. Don’t despair, there’s plenty to do this month that should barely cost a penny – bury yourself in work, jog around the park and enjoy the many free gigs you can find all over London. Many of the big bands we happily pay to see now, started out in grassroots venues with no door fee, playing to one man, his dog and a sozzled regular propping up the bar. Here’s a selection of what’s on offer this month – totally gratis. You never know, you might just spot a star in the making, or discover a band that will mark your memories for years to come. Don’t say we never do nothing for ya…
