ARSENAL smashed their fundraising target for Great Ormond Street Hospital children’s charity after raising a record-breaking £818,897.

The club had hoped to net £500,000 through their Be a Gooner, Be a Giver campaign but, thanks to fans’ large generosity, they ended up eclipsing all previous fundraising totals for Arsenal’s Charity of the Season initiative.

The money will be used to build a modern and spacious Arsenal Lung Function Unit.

Gunners’ boss Arsene Wenger said: “We are delighted to smash our target of raising £500,000 for this hospital. The fans have been superb with their generosity yet again.”
