KARATE kid Luan Veras hit the heights yet again when he struck gold at the English National Karate Championships in Sheffield.

The talented eight-year-old won all four of his fights to capture the under-9s national title, adding to the British Championship that he won in Glasgow in October.

Luan was one of four youngsters from the Veras Academy Karate Club taking part in the competition, lining-up alongside younger brother Liam, 6, Luke Kavanagh, 9, and Charlie Hussey, 13.

The success continued as Luan, Liam and Luke joined forces to win a silver medal in the team discipline, while the brothers also won a bronze in the pairs category.

Club-mate Charlie was also celebrating after being crowned English champion in the disability category for the second year in a row.
