All together now… super swim squad savour their success

YOUNGSTERS from Camden Swiss Cottage made a splash at the weekend by winning the first round of the M11 Junior Swimming League at Barnet Copthall.
Facing tough competition from five other teams, the super squad of nine- to 12-year-olds scored more than 200 points to take victory over closest rivals Romford Town and Chelmsford.
Boasting some of the top talents from Camden and Islington, the club struck gold with double-victor Callum Carlisle winning the 50m backstroke and the 50m butterfly.
The success continued with Imogen Sargeant racing to top spot on the podium for the 25m butterfly, while Ruby Coyle and Lauren Brantley won their respective 50m butterfly events.
Solid second places were achieved by Ruby, Daniel Markov, Chloe Berko-Boateng, Clementine Butler Brown and Keyleigh Caffrey.
Meanwhile Imogen, Lauren, Daniel, Anna Waring, Aaron Waring, Jonathon Novak, Eris Shala, Terry McAvoy and Austin Harris all touched home in third place to gain vital points.
With every point counting, Camden Swiss Cottage also recorded important wins in the relays. The girls’ nine and under team of Imogen, Anna, Allie Gruber and Nora Rotman were victorious in their freestyle and medley events.
In the girls’ 10 and under category Ruby, Clementine, Amelia Sargeant and Lara Tobias-Tarsh joined forces to win the freestyle.
There was also success for Lauren, Keyleigh, Drew Dill, Anna Podurgiel and Hillary Trimarchi in the under-11 girls’ as they won their freestyle and medley races.
